Oh To Be a Millionaire

I can't help but think that if every millionaire on the planet sent me just $1, I would be a millionaire several times over. And I were to actually put up such a challenge and get some results, once I hit a certain mark where my bills are paid off and everything broken is fixed and we have enough to live on, I would then pay it forward. I would give the money to others in need. One dollar, Oprah. That's all I ask. Come on Donald, you can fork over $1. Hey, every professional athlete in North America, it's less than the cost of a cup of coffee. Just send me a dollar.

People get money sometimes when they set up sites asking for donations, sometimes they don't even bother to give out a sad story - just say that they are in debt or want to go to college or something. It's not a bad idea, but it probably only works for a tiny fraction of those who try it.

On Extreme Waterparks they focused a whole hour on a guy who, in his efforts to fight depression, wanted to build the world's longest water slide. He put up a fundraising site (like Kickstarter). The money came rolling in but then trinkled down to a few dollars an hour. He was $50,000 short when he got a phone call from a rich philanthropist who donated the last $50K to the project. It was an awesome slide, by the way.

Interesting theory! No idea how many millionaires there are to find if it would work but it would be an excellent idea if it would.
