2012 Hodder And Stoughton – Spoiler Alerts.
The deeply moving and uplifting story of a homeless young busker and the cat who came out of nowhere to save his life. Then again, it is the story of a homeless cat saved by a young man who had problems of his own.
James Bowen, a homeless drug addict in London, drifting, and using money earned busking to fuel his heroin addiction.
When he takes care of a stray ginger cat he calls Bob both of their lives change dramatically. Bob follows him round with the loyalty of a dog, accompanying him when he busks. James finds the crowds drawn in by the cat rather than the guitar, and James gets himself off drugs once and for all.
What he hasn’t realized is that Bob has become an Internet sensation thanks to Youtube footage and the cat is about to make his owner just as famous.
Strong on insights into the misery and horror of London’s homeless junkies. Bowen is one of the fortunate ones in this short heart-warming story.
