How do you decide your party planning?

We all have different preferences, taste, strategies or decisions when it comes to party planning. There are some that are taking it too seriously as what I did last time and there are some that as long as they were able to have party at all then it is all alright. How long do you usually decide for your own event? Like birthday party, wedding or any other more celebration. What do you usually prepare for the celebration or big event? What are the preparation that take too long for you to accomplish? My husband and I had talked about and planned it very well but of course it will all rely to our budget. I have been looking for the venue that has air conditioned but of course as long as it is affordable for our budget. Unfortunately I can’t find the good one so no choice but on the garden venue that is just near to my husband’s place. Months before the event we already paid for the down payment of the venue in order for us to reserve it right away then the next thing will do is how to design an invitation. I have chosen the menu in which I want it to be unique and never been tasted to other occasions though not at all of course. This was my wrong part as I am taking much long to decide and still wishing to animate the save the date invitation though it still went well. 1 month before the event we’ve already bought the materials for prizes and for the lootbags. Then we have been busy for the gift registry in choosing the items. I have been also busy layout designing for the invitation until sending it to people and air mail some of them. For the games I was the one who created it though it was not 100% successful during the event since there were other people who did not stay so long at the event.
