Good news on the radiator

My dad bought a wrecked vehicle years back intending to fix it all up and drive it. They got another one instead so its just been sitting on the property. My van is broke down so he told me if I pay to get it fixed I can have it. The guy who is working on it said that the radiator is leaking so I needed a new one. He ordered one at the auto parts store and I picked it up yesterday. The cost was $147. He texted me this morning and told me that it wasn't the radiator that there was a hose he couldn't see. I can return it now and get the money back.

Did he find out what was wrong?

Well he texted me today and told me that everything is all ready to go except that there is a problem with the wires so the high beams on the one side are not working. He is going to try to see if he can trace the wires and fix it. If he can't then he said that I might have to take it to a Volkswagen dealer. Yikes I hope he can figure it out because a dealer charges a lot to work on repairs.

@Carmelanirel2 Actually yes he did figure out what was wrong. It was just that someone had taken the fuse out of the fuse panel. What an easy repair huh! Now it is at the garage in town for him to check on the transmission fluid as my dad said it didn't seem to be shifting gears. It is an automatic. I have already spent $625 so hopefully there is nothing wrong with the transmission after this or all the money spent so far will be a waste.

@shaggin Oh no, I hope he figured it out because even a mechanic is expensive and we avoid them if we can, but a dealer? Like you said "Yikes!"

Yes I am very lucky that I was able to return this and save money. I was worried that the auto parts store would have an excuse and not return it. Thankfully the guy who worked on my car never even took this out of the package so the auto parts store could tell it was brand new and returned it for me no problem! Got $147 back. Yay for me!
