I used to have a tandem and spent a very memorable holiday in Holland on it with a friend. We were surprised that, in a country noted for its bicycles, many people had clearly not seen one before and we heard comments like: "Oh look! A 'two one'!" I believe that the dog in the picture is actually riding on the carrier of a normal bike.
