The Mac Millan Cancer support group, are holding an event called, " the world's biggest coffee morning event."... its to help continue their work with people who have cancer. They help care for patients and their families, who are suffering the effects of cancer...
The idea is you hold a coffee morning, and bake some cakes or something and people donate money for the coffee and the cakes... and there are some fun things to do... I went to one last year, and we had guess the weight of the cake... how many smarties in a jar... guess the name of the teddy bear... (which is choose a name from a list with 50 pre selected names on) and if you win or guess correctly you win the prize... there was only 12 of us and we raised 70.00 Euros...
The web site is very helpful and will send you a little pack with information and invitations and promotional stuff in it.... it's a very worthwhile cause... I have worked with Mac Millan nurses before... and they are marvelous... and I was ssooo thankful for their input... as they also provide caring services in other health areas like, end of life care ....
So try and get to one... or, run one of your own... click on the link below to take you to their webpage... it was good fun and for a very good cause...

i recall ya writin' 'f such 'n i'm so glad yer doin' it 'gain. such a worthwhile cause indeed. instead 'f such in these parts, some gal called my phone (asked fer the hubs, he denies knowin' who the heck she was/how she got my phone #) 'bout 9pm last night wantin' a donation - they'd send me a packet. that's the pitfall fer me when it comes to charities. how much they spend on packets 'n t-shirts 'n such. to me, those funds need to go directly to the cause. i can do without a memo pad with their name on it.

@sueznewz2 its a shame, coz 's much 'f those funds goin' to where they say they're goin' could make a diff'rence in someone's life - many lives actually. yes ma'am, she's lucky she didn't call after 9 'r she'd gotten an earful. my phone rings later 'n that 'n my heart jest sinks. that's a 'loss 'f life 'r limb' thingy 'round these parts.

I hear you... some of the ways they spend the money doesn't make sense, and fancy ringing up at that time of night... you're just going to annoy people for interrupting their evening....
