Hey, myLot--the infinite scrolling needs to GO!

I've never really been a fan of the infinite scrolling on pages here--where you keep going down the page and more discussions or responses load once you hit the end of the list. It just doesn't have the same appeal to me that the paged format of the previous layout did. I can work with it on a "real" computer, but this morning I was browsing the site on my tablet and discovered that it ruins the user experience. See, when you're using a mobile device, the infinite scrolling doesn't work at all. You get the initial group of 20 discussions, and that's it. This puts mobile users at a huge disadvantage because they can't see every discussion posted to the site. Even following a lot of users isn't a solution, because it's true on every page that uses infinite scrolling. myLot's losing out, too, because there's a lot of potential views that won't happen if users can't see more than a fraction of the content that's available here on the site. Am I the only one who would gleefully volunteer to test a new layout for compatibility with mobile devices if myLot needed guinea pigs?

You have a point. They could have page breaks. I am on another site and there too it is the same story.

@yukimori Since I am on a different time zone when I am up here a huge list awaits me and with the time out issue it becomes all the more difficult. I am marking this for @myLot Bugs for their attention.

What's weird is that it's worked once since I started this discussion, but every other time it doesn't.

Personally, I think MyLot could benefit from a mobile app for those who wish to use MyLot on their phone or tablet. MyLot is great on my computer, but it's too complicated to use on my smartphone.
Do you think that the site could benefit from the addition of a mobile app? Most people now days use their phones for the internet and social media like...

There seems to be a bit of hinting coming out that there are some big code updates coming in the not-so-distant future. I'd love to see a mobile app, but I'd be content with a site that was even mostly functional on a mobile device. Easier-to-access menus, not having to resize things just to see the write button at the top of the screen... there's lots of little improvements that could make the experience better for mobile users. It's funny... I used to scoff at the people who wanted mobile apps for myLot, but after a few years I'm finding that I have to reevaluate my position on it.

@yukimori Yes, either a mobile app or a more mobile-friendly website. I really want to use myLot on my phone while I'm not by my computer.

i fear i've no mobile devices, nor the desire to get such. i've a dumb phone 'n this here laptop 's purty portable (though i wish i'd bought a higher end'un with a longer battery life...sigh, live 'n learn!) so i've no need fer such. i rarely go any place 'n e'en then i'd not be wantin' to feel the need fer constant communication. i still aint all warm 'n fuzzy with that sort'a thingy. but, i'm certain if'n there's funds fer such a project, they'll be huntin' fer folks willin' to take 'er those needed test drives so they can work out all the kinks 'fore goin' 'live'.
