Is Dowry in India the cause for decline in girl to boy ratio??

I have seen the parents of the girl who are economically challenged struggle to marry their daughter.As they have to arrange a hefty sum for groom's side known as "dowry"!!.It ranges from thousands to lakhs to even crores sometimes. So let us come to the core issue.It is not at all a problem to a celebrity,or a rich person as they showcase this event as a show to their relation,people their entire repertoire!!.But here comes the problem.Where do the common man go to arrange it!Seeing some rich people exchange dowry the middle class groom family too starts to ask hefty sum as dowry. So what do the parents do now?They use up all their savings,incur heavy debts, go for loans from loan sharks which will lead them into life long misery.If they have other girls to marry it will be shambolic to say the least. So if the guy has a sister,then it is his duty to see the marriage of his sister.He has to incur debts,loans and arrange her marriage!!So what does this guy do?He too asks for the dowry to cover up his debts when he marries!!So what I am saying is this process is like a cycle of chain which repeats and repeats. I have also read heinous crimes like bride burned to death for dowry,murdered for dowry,divorce threat for dowry and the list grows There are some exception ,change is coming,there are some "limited species" who don't ask for dowry ,only because there are no "girl species" left in their community!!Not due to any noble cause.They just want a girl to marry as in there is shortage of girls in their community!! Lastly some people are genuinely liking for girl child.I feel good as in my city the girl to boy ratio is good.But there are some states which are so less in girl ratio that I have incidents about 4 guys marrying a single girl,and that too after giving her parents the money for their approval.That is one terrible future which this evil practice may lead us to!!!??
