Racism is a poor treatment of people because of other's race. It is also the belief that some races of people are better than others. It may also be defined as the hatred of one person by another or the belief that another person is less than human - because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person.
The speech of Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream, is very effective in convincing people to support him because his optimism is shown on an issue that seems hopeless, which is ending the racism or racial injustice. People will think twice and realize that it is still possible to happen if they support this. I was glad to know that a person can still have a positive thinking and faith that racial injustice can be ended soon.
Each race in every place, has different interests, personalities, beliefs, and traditions that are practiced. It should be understood that every one of us is unique. We will all never be the same in all aspects. Everybody deserves the equal respect from people, even though we don't have much similarities. We must respect each other, for we are all humans.
A bright dream was told by Martin Luther King Jr.: "One day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brothers." This is his dream that I really wish to come true. And if children are not taught by their parents to choose friends according to their race, if they will let their children to grow up on their own, deciding on whoever they choose, this dream is very possible to be attained. This gives us people the hope of having an equality and sense of belongingness.
Personality can be the basis, not the color of the skin. Each one of us is to be judged by our character and capabilities. That's where people excel, that is where we can prove to others that even though we have disparate races, we can still do better other than being discriminated. Having a white, brown, black, or any color of skin, or having to know a different language, doesn't have anything to with our capabilities as a human.

Welcome to myLot. A lot still has to happen in the world to make Dr. King's dream a reality.

Thank you. Also, thank you for being the first one to comment :) I know, but it's amazing to think that this can be possible if we all realized how much his dream can change a lot about the society.
