Pre-emptive premeditated compensation claims

Hello, is this Ambulance Chasers Are Us? - The people who wait for us to have accidents so they can fleece the legal system getting us compensation by suing everyone in sight? You are. Oh good. No, I haven't had my accident yet. I'm planning on having one on Tuesday. I reckon I'll need about $10,000 dollars so I'm wondering how much damage I need to do to myself - should I just break one leg or both? Is it possible not to actually sever a limb but get that much money? I don't want to permanently inconvenience myself if that's alright with you. Really, you don't think it's ethical to have my accident on purpose? Why should that bother you? We'll still get to sue someone without me having to spend any cash at all, and I can have my terrible accident when it suits me too. Who am I planning to have cause my accident? Oh, I was thinking of your closest rivals, 'You'll Be Glad That Fell On You PLC'. I have it all worked out - I'm going to get a nasty paper-cut collecting one of their leaflets as they badger me in the High Street, and then fall into the road just as a guy I'm paying off drives his truck over my foot or both of my feet. How much is the paper-cut itself worth too? Hello, are you still there? Oh you hung up. Oh well, if that's your attitude, maybe I should rig this with your competitors and sue you instead. As much as I got a chuckle reading this, unfortunately there are really people that do this sort of thing, which is horrible. I am not sure which is worse ... the fact that they are trying to scam people or the fact that they will intentionally endure such pain just for the money.

I worked at a factory in the 1990's where two lads were fired when one deliberately drove a fork lift truck over his friend's foot. They told too many people they planned it before hand. One ended up with crushed toes and both ended up arrested for attempted fraud.

@arthurchappell Again, I am not sure which is dumber ... the fact that they planned it, especially since it would be Worker's Compensation and I doubt that they would get as much as they thought they would, or the fact that they bragged so much about their stupidity!
