Does music confuse you or make things clear?

This is a question that I've just heard on the radio. It's an interesting one - presumably it depends on the music in question, but there is also an element of why you listen to music in the first place.
I find some music very confusing - Stockhausen and Boulez leave me completely in the dark! However, the clarity of Haydn, Mozart and Chopin is another matter altogether!

Music is like a hallucinogen. You consume it but the hallucinations you have are a reflection of what your sub-conscious has to say to you. Music can make things clearer when clarity is what your looking for subconsciously- like when your having a relationship problem and you are looking for a way out of that problem- suddenly a song comes along that has just the right lyrics and you find it soothing, alleviating even therapeutic in some cases. It can be confusing when the objective with which you are listening to and the song that you are listening to dont add up. Ever been through a situation when you heard a song, didn't like it! Heard it again sometime later and said to yourself- Wow! how did I ever let that one go in the first place! Music really is a very deep thing. One can say its a measure of human soul. You can tell what a person is like by simply browsing through their playlist.

It depends on the situation of course. When i try to read - no music is needed, when i wash dishes/do exercises/type music sometimes is a necessary thing
