Is Christianity more akin to Socialism or Conservatism?

George Bernard Shaw once said that being a Christian obliged him to be a Communist. However, one hears a great deal about the "Christian Right", especially in the United States.
So which is the political philosophy that is more in tune with the precepts of Christianity?

If you are speaking of Christianity in the USA, it is very akin to Conservatism on the whole.
At least that is my present take on it.
I am of the thought that religions wont matter soon enough in this place though.

I was speaking of Christianity as a religion - wherever it is practiced. I tend to agree with Shaw - the religion as described in the New Testament has precious little in common with the politics of the right. You only have to read the Magnificat - with its talk of bashing the rich - to see that.
