An Atheistic Bible Study Of Psalms 148 And 149

Psalm 148 – It isn’t just Jews and Christians who must pray to God, or even all people, but everything created. Angels an dragons are expected to pray, and perhaps poetically, eve inanimate mountains and rivers are expected to do their duty and pray. I wonder if Smaug and Mount Everest will be sent to Hell for not praying properly.
Psalm 149 – Music is encouraged as an art primarily as an aid to prayer, turning prayers into hymns and poems into songs of praise. Those not singing God’s praises are to be executed for their lack of respect, including the kings and subjects of non-Jewish faiths. The switch from the creative purpose of music to destructive calls for murder are startling.

I can understand music as prayer. On the question of punishment, I know that unlike in the days of the old testament, we no longer have to follow those preachings. In any case they were written by humans and translated a million times

fortunately the law stops such barbaric punishments taking place though some extremists would like a return to the good old days

Aw, you're talking about the 'book of fear' like it's a bad thing!

that is a really pretty gravestone. I like older graveyards, to me they often seem peaceful and calming,

Me too - I often walk round cemeteries looking at headstones and monuments.

doubt if he is around to care - more concerned about the fundamentalists who take every Biblical word as literally true - lol
