Do you know why the Southern United States have traditionally been called "Dixie"?

There are several theories as to why this might have been the case - named after a person (Johan Dixie), an old banknote, or the Mason-Dixon line. People tend to have preferences for one explanation or another - or maybe have just never given it a second thought!
