So who exactly is eligible for Social Security Disability? I applied as I have several major health problems and was turned down. Get a food server job, even if it is painful or causes you emotional problems they said. Ha… Ha… I would like to see the look on that panels face when I walk up with food in one hand and toting my oxygen tank behind me to serve their table food at a restaurant. Get a lawyer they said, appeal it they said. Okay…lawyers cost money and if they process you for free, they get a pretty hefty percentage in kick back from your entitlement. If you cannot afford to pay a doctor to appeal your claim, you can’t even fill out the form to re-apply. Everyone I know that have true health problems and disabilities are having difficulty getting benefits. They have been going back and forth through the system for months and sometimes years. The people I do know that are receiving benefits, have mental health disorders, some caused from drug and alcohol addictions, and in some cases are still using the drugs or alcohol. So what is wrong with this picture? I am truly disappointed in the social security disability system. How can it be called an entitlement for those who have never paid into it? Social Security is an entitlement you work and pay into it, it is deserved. Just Sayin…
