Yes we Brits love our old Red Phone boxes, and sell them to people all over the world, who snap them up for all kinds of uses, even though transportation costs must be horrendous...but this is a new one on me, where it has been turned into a 'virtual Music Hall, and where else but Benjamin Britten's home town, celebrations at the Aldeburgh Music Festival...a yearly event to celebrate his life and music.
The bright red, phone box has a headset showing 360-degree footage of a performance inside its Snape Maltings Concert Hall in Suffolk.
Matt Jolly, digital manager at Aldeburgh Music, said:"We hope the Concert in a Phonebox and online video will give visitors to the site and viewers at home a fun and immersive introduction to Aldeburgh Music and Snape Maltings Concert Hall."....well I would think Mr. Britten might have found it amusing, I doubt any of his pieces have ever been played in an old, British phone kiosk!

Not a Britten fan either...and the phone box may be a novel attraction to overseas visitors, but superfluous, when you will probably see/hear the same live inside the Maltings anyway...

I found one in the Istanbul airport - i wondered why a British Red phone Booth would be there?? So they sell them as an attraction - that is fabulous - I would have one in my home if I could - I hate cell phones, I still have a hand receiver with a cord and dials at home. HA HA

Well hang on to that relic, they are becoming collectable, and moving into the 'most wanted' zone for Retro lovers..you should visit the 'Red Phone Box' graveyard,in Surrey, on your next UK visit...Old Phonebox Heaven, all in one place...
