I will be visiting New Orleans for the first time later this fall. I only have 3 days there but would like to get in as much of the sights and activities. What are some must see attractions or events? What are some good places to eat and shop? Calling anyone who lives in or has visited New Orleans.

There's a church on the left side of Bourbon street (as you're walking up away from the water, I think) that's really cool. I haven't been there in years, though.

I was in NO in the '70s on my honeymoon. Each morning while there I enjoyed a breakfast of chicory coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde, located at 800 Decatur Street. And one night my new husband and I went to Pat O'Brien's on Bourbon Street to sample their famous drink, the Hurricane. Also, a co-worker of mine made a trip there and brought me a voodoo doll, which I put to good use. But that's a different story. I also was there in 1960 with my high school band and was able to take in a bit of jazz, I can't remember the name of the club though. I hope this info is helpful and hasn't come too late.
