...and said he, that the ground would give way and the roads would fall. It was an affront to my faith so I paid him little heed. He specified these in Florida and so they happened, many times in random places. But as I said to him, 'these events are always happening in Florida. I can't pay you mind for simple coincidence.' A dark look fell across his features as he contemplated my words. 'Fine' he said, 'then across the town in South Side' and he pointed from the room in the direction he meant, though I did know that part of town, 'a sinkhole will open and swallow half the road, a car, and part of a house. It will happen in several days.' I nodded my head and smiled, to encourage him to leave. Of course he was crazy. I'm sure that even weeks later the state of South Side would be no different. Yet in a few days, a sinkhole did open, in South Side on the south bound lane. It consumed both lanes and a car, and part of a yard, devouring the front left corner of the house there. It was a large hole and the void was exceptional. It was a wonder that it hadn't collapsed years before. Surely though, this event was merely coincidence? An amazing coincidence, but he was only human, and a crazy one at that... I kept my silence and ignored this feat, though it wasn't the last that he predicted that came to pass.
