What is the meaning of the word 'like' here?

I saw a user 'liking' two opposite views. Was it that this user blindly clicked the 'like' button without reading the contents or is it possible that this user liked both views which were opposite of each other?
When do you click that 'like' button?

I think it is possible to like opposing views. One may like the point being made even if they don't agree with it. I like views that make sense even if I may not personally agree with it

And then under the same breath you veto what you just liked. I will not like a post if I do not agree with what is being writiten there. I suppose that is how it works. Different strokes. Right? An opposing view calls for interaction and so merely liking and moving on to my mind may not be quite in order.

@TheHorse Would you not then comment on it and then have and interaction?

I do that because I appreciate the person's writing, not necessarily because I agree with what he/she writes.

I have to be honest and admit that I rarely tend to use the Like link. This is purely due to not realising most of the time and I know that I should make the effort to use this when appropriate.
If I can get myself into the habit of using it then I would be likely to use it on opposing views because I would choose well presented points rather than the opinion itself.
