I do not watch movie or TV

When I was young, I loved to watch cartoons. I would rush home from school to watch cartoons, and I did not even taste the food I eat. After a while, I realized that I was wasting my life away for that stupid little square box. I stopped watching movie or TV, and I started to read. Now I spend my time online in various forums to learn things that are useful, and I still read books every day.

I haven't watched tv for a long time now. I haven't watched since our tv became out of order. I haven't bought a tv since then. I was not really fond of watching tv because of the commercials. It made me sleep waiting for the show after commercials.

I think you are better off watching movies on Youtube if you really want to watch it. I like Youtube. There are many short movies that are just 10 to 20 minutes. These are the ones that will not make me fall asleep. Anyway I spend more time on forum discussing about money matter.

@scheng1 I sometimes watch movies on Youtube but it's very seldom. There are soap opera that I also like to watch. I watch it on iwantv.com, a local website of ABS CBN wherein we can watch our favorite shows. You can chose whether you watch it live or not.

I still watch a few television shows, and we enjoy going to movies together. But I like to read too. Except what I read is usually fictional and for fun, nothing to be learned from.

Sometimes I learn as much from fiction as from non-fiction. When I read Tom Clancy's books, I learn more about economic, political and military than reading non-fiction books on the subjects. I do not read romance since there is really nothing to learn from. Even Dan Brown and Michael Crichton books are full of facts.

@scheng1 Oh, I make no illusions about the stuff I read. None of it is meant to be intellectual. "Fluff" books I call them sometimes. I like to horror novels. My shelves are full of Stephen King and Dean Koontz. And I like to read teen fiction too, because it is fast paced and easy to read. I figure, reading is my form of entertainment. I don't like reading for "fun" if what I'm reading sounds like a textbook.

I like to read and I watch TV at night. During the day, I cook, garden or visit friends. I also write in my native tongue.

You certainly have the best of all. I really wish that I have a garden, and I have time to visit friends or go out with friends for an afternoon. As such, life is so busy that friendship is maintained through phone. I hope that retirement comes faster!

Could it be that during that time, there was not much online activities going on yet or you didn't know about it?

I've never been really into TV or movies even before I started using the internet.

I think we are both active persons, and TV and movies are both very passive activities. At least when you are using internet, you are taking an active part. You can direct your attention to things you want to learn or share.
