My son is failing his college classes because of his girlfriend

My son is in college and his girlfriend is a serious distraction. He spends all the time with her and doesnt do his work from college. I already talked to him but he doesnt listen or understand that having a girlfriend is only distracting him. I feel powerless and mad because she is causing my sons future. 2hat can i do?

Let it go. He's an adult now and can make his own choices. He may regret this particular decision, but lecturing him about the mistakes he is making won't do any good.
My son is in his first semester in college and told me a week ago that he is thinking of quitting school because it's just not right for him. School isn't right for everyone. He wants to work more and get more money, and maybe return to school later down the road.
I told him that's fine, it's his choice, he can do what he pleases. I don't want to push him to stay in school if he already knows he doesn't like it because then he won't get good grades and he'll fail and will have to pay back all the student loans for nothing. At least by deciding now that he doesn't like it he doesn't have as much student loans to pay back, and if he chooses to return eventually he'll know what he's getting himself into.

talk to her as well as your son, discreetly - find out if her studies are affected too. Don't lecture them or leave him thinking you are seeing her behind his back or it would make matters worse - ultimately, the choices are his

They have to be separated because she is causing a bad effect on your son.

Stay calm and make your son understand that making a career is part of Life and not just loving his girlfriend. Also, if he does well in college, then he would do good with getting a job and then he and his girlfriend can live without future tensions..
