Well It never does last long

I'm trying to remember whether I told you all about how my hours had been cut. I was getting way too many and they had to knock them back down. Well I was supposed to only have 13 hours per week for two weeks. That only lasted one week.
I was told when I was at work last that I would be getting my normal hours back next week. My manager is going on vacation and of course the other part timer's last day is sometime this week.
I knew that my cut in hours wouldn't last long. It never does. In as small of a department as we have, it's hard not to be called in when someone else is sick or when we are getting an extra truck.
The Holiday season is upon us a well and so that will also mean more hours for me.

It won't matter as I will be getting them. 7 people on the team, about to go to 6 people. My asst. is going to be leaving too so it will just be five of us.

I used to really hate the type of work where you could be called in to cover for someone else on short notice. It stressed me out so bad. But of course I don't have the type of lifestyle where I can drop everything last minute to go to work. I always need some kind of notice.

It really doesn't happen so much in my department. We aren't really called either, we are told the day before usually.
I have the type of lifestyle where I can just go in at the drop of a hat, but it doesn't make it any less stressful sometimes.

More hours equals more money. Of course the money won't do you much good if you are stressed out and over worked. Will the company be hiring more part-timers for the holiday season?

Our department never seems to keep people. We have people who have applied but none of them seem to be what is needed so no so far not so good.

Yes and No. I do not so much want to work more hours, but I don't want to have my hours cut either. I know I'll be picking up more shifts off and on though.

It's hard to work in a place where your hours and shifts change all the time. It's exhausting. I hope it balances out for you.

I've been with the company since 2011 so I am well used to it. Most of the time by the time our hours are cut we are ready for a bit of a break. Of course it also happens that we end up having more hours the next week. It does balance out pretty well.
