Sociable, but not very productive!

Today I was fully intending to get lots done, and I got off to a good start – at 7 am I was already hanging out all the washed bedding and had fed the chickens and Pup. A friend sent me a message suggesting we meet after school and I agreed, thinking that by then I would have finished an assignment and done some other work. But then ‘life’ just happened. First, Little One did not want to wake up (funny how she wakes OK at the weekend!) so there wasn’t time to get her ready for nursery before school, so I had to take Big One to school, then give Little One her breakfast and get her ready. Since I didn’t want to have to go out a third time to walk Pup I decided to walk to nursery through the woods, which was lovely. But on the way back I called on a friend who I haven’t seen for a few weeks, it turned out she was really in need of someone to talk to as she was descending into mental illness due to the pressure of trying to help the rest of her family through their various difficulties. I suggested she walk back with us and come in for a cup of tea, so she did, and we sat in the garden and had a long chat, then when the sun moved we came inside and had another drink and another long chat. By the time she left it was past 2:30 pm so I only had time to grab a bowl of soup then I had to go and pick up Big One, continue round to the other friend’s house, and try to help her out a bit and provide a listening ear as she is finding it hard to cope with a new baby, a two-year-old and a husband who ‘doesn’t do babies’. From there it was back to school for parents’ evening, then to nursery to collect Little One, then home for baths and dinner. By the time the girls were both in bed I was ready for sleep too. I didn’t get far with my ‘to-do’ list but I hope at least I managed to provide a little respite for a couple of friends. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2015.

Sounds like a good day to me, none the less. You'll have plenty of time to tackle that to-do list another day.

I have to literally force myself to get up from my pc to attend to chores. But I am getting better day by day.

To-do lists can go out the window when it comes to a question of helping friends. You have a very kind heart.

I'm sure your friends appreciate the time you spent to listen to them. I think if I can do that for my friends that would make my day already, even if it means cutting back on my to-do list. By the way I still find it funny how kids are always the earliest to wake up on weekends and the hardest to wake up on weekdays.

My plans rarely work completely. Every time we have a good day planned ahead and start completing the tasks with excitement, something happens unexpectedly and changes the priorities. That's life, it's more interesting when unexpected things happen, like meeting and chatting with friends that you haven't seen for a long time.

You offered a listening ear to them and that really matters. You may never know but i know they owe you one. It did good spending time with them
