No I haven't as I don't buy gifts. I either give money or gift cards. I only have five to buy for, so I can wait until the day before Christmas to get the money and gift cards. I do buy something for my ex husband, but he is the only one. I may buy gift cards for my grandsons that live in Missouri, but that will be it. We used to buy for each other, but once our daughter moved away to another state, then we stopped buying for her and the grandsons. I don't give a lot of money either, as I just can't afford to do all that much since money is very tight right now.

@cessy_08 My grand kids prefer money now that they are older, so they can get what they want. My grand daughter will spend hers right away, where as my grand son will save his for things that he wants. He has saved a lot for things that he wants as my son and daughter-in-law won't buy them for him, as he is old enough to work and earn it himself.

Giving money and/or gift cards are quite common these days and it is really practical. Because you allow the person to have the freedom what they want to do with the gift they received. I find some kids these days prefer to receive money and they save it up so they can buy the toy/gadget that they want.

@rosekiss That is really good! At least he knows that in order for him to buy "expensive" things for himself, he needs to save to buy it himself!

I am already at it. I have this party for the poor kids each year for which I need to organise a lot and that includes online shopping

I bought one present, as it is a book I get at discount every yearly update from the society I'm in - a pub guide. I get a copy as a present for a family friend too. Other presents wait until closer to Christmas.

@cessy_08 I live in New Zealand, what I call a crowd is probably quite different from what you call a crowd.

Do you do it online? I can't imagine squeezing with lots of people in the shopping centers to buy gifts! I remembered a time we were doing last minute shopping and I saw people "fighting" over an item. Crazy!

@valmnz Yeah probably :) I used to live in Melbourne for 3 years and the crowd is not as bad as compared to Asia. It is probably the same there, too?

I shop for Christmas all through the year, so I have a little money to spend on fun things during the holidays.

I think it is a good approach to buy things little by little so your budget don't go over the roof in a month when you buy gifts :) Do you wrap them as soon as you buy?
