A Tale of Two Teams

I am a huge baseball fan. It's my favorite sport. I also have a problem: two of my favorite teams are big rivals. The Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals have enjoyed (a strange word to use, I know) an intense rivalry over the years. It's intense, but respectful: when Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile died of a heart attack before a game against the Cubs in Chicago the Cubs and their fans reached out graciously and magnanimously to the grieving and shocked Cardinals team. The Cubs and the Cardinals just finished their NLDS series, with the Cubs taking it, 3 games to 1. The Cardinals fan in me says it was a great season. Despite massive injuries that should have stopped the team cold they pressed on and eventually won 100 games. That's nothing to sneeze at. They just caught a very hot team, which is something that happens to every team. The Cubs fan in me is delighted and wishes them the best as they strive to become World Series champions! I'm tired of hearing "the Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908" (even people who don't like the Cubs are probably sick of hearing it!). I'm happy that the Cubs are advancing, and I truly hope they take it all this year.
