Laundry is Drying Outside on the Clothes Line

I am sitting here, listening to the wind blow it dry on the line. I actually put it out yesterday and forgot to take it in. So it got damp again over night. I set an alarm clock to remind me to take in it around 5pm.
Now that I am thinking about this, I better put a note by the alarm clock so I remember why I set it. I have a pretty good memory, but I'm juggling quite a few things these days. I would probably think the alarm was to do something else.

I would have a hard time with that rule. I used to be a town planner an write zoning codes. Usually it's homeowners' associations that forbid them not towns.

@valmnz There are homeowners' groups that feel hanging clothes out to dry makes the place look working class. It's a very common prohibition in a homeowner's agreement. I have never seen a town do this. It never even came up for discussion. I worked entirely in New England. It could be a regional thing.

The only times I ever hung clothes out the birds did their thing and they had to be rewashed...total waste.

@AbbyGreenhill, oh dear. I've been hanging mine out on the line for 44 years and nothing ike that has ever happened to me, thank goodness.

That hasn't happened very often to me at all an I have bird feeders all over the yard. Sometimes a raccoon has pulled sheets off the line and played with them.

@valmnz I don't mind since I prefer soft clothes. My parents always hung clothes out and growing up I hated those stiff towels and everything had to be ironed.

A lot of people do. Many communities in the United States don't even allow them, because they are sooooo working class. I refuse to live in one of those.

@NeldaHoxie Really?! What snobs! It's a wonder they aren't up on their high horses preaching about how eco-friendly it is to do this!

I love to wear things that have been dried on a clothes line. I used to do that more often when I was younger.

I love the smell much more than any artificial scent.

That's a good one not remembering why the alarm clock was set. One has to remember to remember

drying clothes under the sun is quite common here and i'm glad we have the space for it. it's a struggle, though, during the rainy season, since most washing machines here only have spin driers.
but as land and homes get more expensive, i notice in recent years that more and more have no space at all to hang their clothes, or even park their cars.

What if Mr Wind comes along and blows your clothes all over. You better not forget them.
