Half way through the month, and almost into the party season with me still jobless. My Mum had to go to her work as a volunteer in Victim Support, so her guests from last night were left to get their own breakfasts before departing at their leisure. I chatted to them briefly on my way out for an appointment. My mum had left them thinking I stayed in bed all morning when I usually write and job search online in my bedroom. I was scheduled for another doomed and hell-damned job interview today. The directions to the office I was to go seemed clear enough, and I knew the street it was on. However it was described as being in the grounds of another building, which was a hotel. I walked right round the hotel to see that it had no grounds. I went in to ask at the reception, only to be told to go to their other reception which meant going out of the building, round the block and back in. I got in only to be directed to a vast inner courtyard containing three other buildings and strange demonic statues in acrobatic poses. The building I wanted was in here utterly invisible to the outside of the hotel. I saw the list of companies using the building but the firm I needed wasn’t listed. I asked around and no one knew where it was. The directions said it was on the mezzanine floor but use of stairs and the lift revealed that there was no mezzanine floor. I eventually gave up and quit the search. I had forgotten to take their phone number with me but the firm is supposed to be a public service place and yet I had a better chance of finding The Loch Ness Monster even in the building they sent me to. I might have found it had I persevered, but I was late which I never like) and my pent up anger would have killed my interview chances anyway. They never texted or rang me to ask if I was delayed. I took photos round the city to take my mind off my fury as it was a nice day and went to the library for a while before coming home. Arthur Chappell

wow, that's some crazy directions to try and find it, I wonder where it really was.

How frustrating that must have been for you, I hope you get a job soon.
