would you let your child join the army?

I don't think I would ever have the strength to allow my child to join the army. it's good to encourage them into doing whatever they want when they grow up but the idea that he will be in constant danger wouldn't let me sleep at night

I don't have children but I would try to discourage anyone from military service as I see myself as a pacifist

@swissheart true but they should be for defence not attack and too many send their troops into unethical wars with no say in the matter they could die over

@arthurchappell yes sadly many times the army doesn't serve the country's interests but some sort of political interests and many lose their lives

My dad is in the Air force. So I know what its like to fear for his life when its war time. In air force even the routine is a risk. As you talk of the next generation , they hopefully come in a better peaceful world and we are at a reduced risk. Will be proud of whatever choice they make. Scared yes. But then someone needs to be at that border

yes having a relative in the army gives you a huge feeling of pride but at the same time you also fear for his life

@swissheart I get your concern . was selected for air force too. My mom didn't want me to go. She says one headache is enough in the family. I don't want one more :D

I wouldn't encourage my child to join the army, but I don't think I would forbid them from doing so if that is really what they wish.
