Horseback Trail Rides - A Peaceful Hobby

My favorite activity that I enjoy early in the morning on weekends is to go on a horseback trail ride. One of the reasons we moved to the retirement community we chose is because it is, as far as we know, the only one in the United States that offers horseback riding. Our community has 23 acres of trails, an arena for lessons, and stables where people can either keep their own horses or ride the ones that belong to the community. Best of all, it only costs $7 to go on an hour long trail ride and use one of the community horses. I've included a picture I took from the back of a horse. It shows the trails and the woman who leads our trail ride. It is such a relaxing way to start the day! Do you have a hobby that is relaxing, peaceful and affordable for you?

I used to enjoy riding horses. This friend of mine in high school had horses. And she used to let me ride her horses. That was relaxing.

You are so fortunate friend. It sounds really glorious. What a beautiful photo. Unfortunately my days are taken up with appointments, so no time for hobbies.

@RasmaSandra - Yes, I know I am lucky to be able to go riding. I would not be able to afford to do it if the price was not so low.

You would be surprised at how many people in their 70s and 80s go horseback riding in my community!

@AbbyGreenhill - I have to confess that I have known of some older people who have been thrown and gotten hurt. If you are not comfortable on a horse, you are probably smart to stay off!

i'm kinda envious ya got such beautiful trails to ride. in these parts 'tis jest flat. 'course, one can jest forgo a saddle 'n lay back 'n jest let their horse wander without much worry. i'm addicted to nature 'n critters 'n bein' in their presence, fer the most part, 'tis always relaxin'. when stuck indoors fer long periods, i tend to 'ttempt to quilt to keep from goin' stir crazy.

Unfortunately, Laguna Beach, California is a long way from London. We are lucky to live in our community.

I have been taking pictures for years. With the advent of the great lenses in cell phone, this is now an easier and more affordable hobby.
