Argh

My mouth just hurts so much, I must have had this abscess for six months now, it bursts, then fills back up and then bursts again. Sometimes it'll just ooze for a few days just to make me think it might just get better. I know it's not going to get better until the tooth is extracted, but I'm terrified of dentists so that's going to be done under sedation. I guess at least the end is in sight now, I've finally seen the oral surgeon and only have a six to eight week wait. In the meantime I've been researching natural remedies and oil pulling is something that keeps coming up. Only even the thought of swishing oil round my mouth for ten minutes is making me heave and the reality is I can't even last a minute. Have you ever tried oil pulling and if so how did you manage not to throw up?

I've tried it, but it doesn't even touch the pain. Luckily (or maybe not) I take strong painkillers for a joint condition, can't imagine how much it would hurt otherwise, especially just before it bursts.

You need to go get antibiotics to clear up the infection. I'm surprised that the oral surgeon didn't prescribe anything to you when you were seen. Even a regular doctor should be able to give you a prescription for what you need.

Unfortunately I've already had several courses of antibiotics and while they make it better for a while the infection never completely clears up.

I'm so sorry to learn of this awful condition and wish you a speedy recovery which is gonna happen after your appointed surgery. In the meantime, I believe you can use those anti-bacterial mouthwash to rinse your mouth when you brush your teeth and after each meal as well. I suppose this will keep your infection from getting worse. As for managing the condition, I probably would ask that you stay away from seafood, raw meats, raw veggies and poultry which are bad when you have "open" wounds. Fiber wise I believe you will need to avoid peanuts at all cost. Fruits like apples, pears, peaches must be peeled. I think that's about all and hope the mentioned will be of help.

I have never tried that, but it is worth giving it a try. You might trying to think of something else or use only a tiny, tiny amount.
