When people think of banquet halls they tend to think of glamorously decorated rooms of grandeur. That's not always the case. The banquet hall I find myself in is a testament to this.
The blue carpeting is not plush, nor is it quite blue. It's more a slate grey from years and years of wear and tear. The once pristine wallpaper is now fading and peeling in places. The Chandelier's are not as stunning as they once were and several are missing bulbs for their candles.
The mirrors strategically placed on the walls merely reflect the dismal appearance of the party goers who hold tightly to the their fake smiles. It is not hard to tell that these people would rather be anywhere but here.
I search through the crowd for the golden haired boy with striking blue eyes. I don't know much about him, only what I keened on my way here. I know his clothes will be rumpled, torn in places. I know his shoulders will carry the weight of a thousand regrets. I know he is waiting for me.
I don't know why. I don't know what brought me here, or what I am meant to do. I don't know whether to be afraid, or hopeful. So I am just here, searching, seeking, waiting.
Will he find me before I find him?
