I've had relatives that I hate getting gifts for, its not that they don't like the gifts its that they openly complain to me about the gifts instead of being grateful. I once got a relative a gift and they told me to take it back to the store and give them the money. once I got them a gift and they opened it and said why did you get me this? they have even been so bold as to make a Christmas type list of things they would want for a birthday. I grew up being grateful for things given to you even if you didn't like it you kept it or regifted it and showed the appropriate amount of thankfulness
