Singapore has lots of paranormal activities...it usually happen near election. Suddenly, our government starts to behave extremely well and give out goodies. Such things don't happen often...it's paranormal!!! That being said...I share on of my paranormal encounter. Many years back, prior to moving into my new place in Pasir Ris St 21 (new flats), we had visited the place a few times and didn't feel that anything was wrong with the flat. One night however, I dreamt that I went for a visit to the new place and when I opened the door, I saw an old lady standing in the living room looking at me expressionless. Next to her (near to the kitchen wall) was a table with her picture and some offering items. The wall was splattered with blood. I didn't think much about the dream and didn't tell anyone about it. Our stay in the flat was smooth sailing except for the occasional oppression, sudden low feelings and at one point when I was taking an afternoon nap, I felt a presence sitting on my bed but left shortly later (you know the feeling where the bed would depressed on one side when someone sits on it?). My crystal pendant broke into two when I woke up from the nap. I was sleeping face up so I wouldn't possibly hit my pendant on anything. 2 days before we moved out of the place, my dog passed away. No idea what happened as she was behaving normal the whole day and then all of a sudden, decided to hide under the mattress and refuse to come out. When she finally got out, she was lying in the dining room with a pool of water with blood. Mum said that because the house wanted a living bring to stay behind and my dog volunteered to sacrifice...not sure how that works. A few years later, I was chatting with my sister about the flat. She told me that prior to moving in, she had a dream. She dreamt that when she open the door to the flat, she was an old lady standing next to er tombstone looking at her. Her tombstone was next to the kitchen wall (the exact place I saw the table with her phone and some offerings). At that instance, my hair stood. I asked my sister if the old lady had grey hair tied up into a bun and was wearing blue quarter sleeves top and black pants (those that ah mas would wear). My sister said yes and ask how I knew. I guess I'm good at remembering what people or in this case, non-human wear!

@yeezermac Ah....I can't keep plants too. My cactus keep dying on me. Either I water them too much and they turn soggy or I didn't water them enough and they wither!

@kumako And they say cactus are hardy. Maybe so, but not hardy at all with you and me eh?

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I have a related experience. Me, I cannot keep plants. Even the hardiest plant, I cannot keep. Money plants die on me, can you believe that? My mom says that this is because I can keep animals well. My old goldfish lived for 3 years, for example. In exchange for being able to keep animals well, I am not able to do the same for plants. So says my mother.

Stories about the paranormal? Oh boy, I've got a lot of those. Some are from my personal experience, others are ones I heard from others. There was once I was giving a talk at the National Museum, and one of the participants shared her experience with the rest of the audience. Just for hoots, she went to Old Changi Hospital to take a look around. She was with her husband and her friend. They climbed the stairs up to the 4th floor, and all of sudden, she could not move. She felt something was holding her back. She had her husband and friend walk her down to the first floor. Now, on the first floor, she suddenly got into fits and was kicking and screaming wildly. Her husband and friend decided to bring her to the nearby Taoist temple in Loyang. She was so violent that she made a dent in the van's dashboard. Upon reaching the temple, her husband and friend brought her out to meet with the priest. She was still acting violently. The priest said some prayers and eventually she calmed down. Her husband told her "let's go home now" and put her in the van. She repeated "I wanna go home". And her husband replied "Yes, we are going home. Back to Punggol". She replied "Who said my home is in Punggol?". She directed her husband to drive her back to Old Changi Hospital, where she directed them to bring her to an old office at the back of the hospital. Once there, she collapsed and it would seem like whatever was possessing her left her body.

@yeezermac That is freaky!!! I have seen my ex-classmate refused to enter the temple before...I didn't know what was happening then until we finally entered. He kneeled infront of the Buddha for like 2 hours without moving!

@kumako One could see this as being good versus evil, that there is something in the person who initially did not want to bow down to Lord Buddha, but eventually repented and paid respect for 2 hrs. Agree?

I've been living in Singapore for a few years now and have never encountered anything remotely paranormal. The closest strange experience I've had was some kind of sleep paralysis that I experienced once. I woke up from a bad dream and couldn't move, and I was scared and convinced that there was someone or something outside my window poisoning me. Then it was like the rational part of my brain woke up and just declared, "No, that's just part of the dream". Then I stopped feeling scared and could move again. I'm pretty sure it's not paranormal, but it was quite weird to me.

Indeed, there are physiological explanations as to why sleep paralysis occurs. In my experience as a paranormalist, some people experience paranormal phenomena more than others do. It is a case of sensitivity to such phenomena, brought about by one's psychic inclinations and one's balance of energy

@enlightenedpsych2 That's possible too. There are many things one cannot empirically explain, such as psychosomatic reactions from work
