There is a shrine on Pulau Ubin that is known as the "German girl shrine". Legend has it that a German family who had settled on Ubin after World War II lost their daughter to cholera. A shrine was thus erected in her memory. About 20 years later, an Australian man dreamt that the German girl requested for a Barbie doll to be used as her avatar. The Australian then brought a Barbie doll to her shrine and it has been there since. People give respect to her by bringing flower garlands and such, and many punters go to her asking for lottery numbers.

I could probably understand your post better if you told us about which part of the world you're writing. I haven't got the foggiest idea where Pulau Ubin is. -- I'm German and I find the story rather weird.

Hello good sir. Pulau Ubin is an island off Singapore. Post World War II, there were a few German families who migrated to Singapore under the flag of the British empire. This instance is not exemplary of Germans in Singapore. It is an anomaly. However, it is an integral part of Singaporean paranormal history.

@yeezermac This information belongs into the post proper, not into a comment. Btw, I'm not a man, I'm a woman.

I'm not aware of this shrine even though I'm a Singaporean. I'm not into such things, I guess.
