It is hard to prove to the banks that the dead person is your uncle, especially one from your mother side. You will need the birth cert of your mother, and the birth cert of your uncle to prove that both of them share the same mother and father, or at least the same mother or father. If your mother loses her birth cert, then you will find it impossible to prove the kinship. That is why there are so many unclaimed monies with the government.
