I tried adding a picture to my last post and it wouldn't let me at first. I finally figured out that the picture size was too large, and that's where my real problems started. We have recently upgraded to the new Windows and I can't figure out how to shrink the size of my picture now. I used to be able to shrink it in the edit area, but now all I can find is crop. I managed to crop the picture small enough, but it cuts out more of the picture than I want. Any suggestions for how to shrink the file size without having to crop the photo?

I have to use other software to resize my pictures. I like the older version of windows for all these reasons.

I didn't even realize that this is something that they would have changed. I didn't really want to need to use a new program since I already new how to do it on the older version of Windows.

I can still edit the pictures but I can't shrink the file size like I used to be able to.

@crazyhorseladycx One would think that, but apparently the developers of the new Windows thought differently. Unless they decided to make it difficult to figure out.

I've always used MS Picture Manager to resize and compress pictures. It does the job well so I don't bother using other software

I have not gotten that exciting yet, I tried once and could not do it so I guess I gave up. This reminds me I should try again

I couldn't understand at first why my picture wouldn't load and then I realized that it might be the file size. Maybe your file was too large when you tried the other time.

Look at crop again and see if there is a custom area where you can put the number in. For that other site the numbers were 670 by 342. This site lets you post bigger than that but the smaller the better chances of it being posted easily. I'm going to look at your comments and see if anyone knows the right size for this site.

I'll have to check that. So far I've only found how to crop the picture by dragging the little crop box.

I use GIMP to resize and touch up my photos. It's basically a free photoshop with some of the bells and whistles removed.

Thank you. I've received several suggestions and will have to look at them all with my husband to see what we want to use.

Oh, rats. I think it varies program to program. I use Kodak Easyshare, and when I "screw up," I actually email the picture to myself and "start over." That probably doesn't help you, though.

I used to have the Easyshare program on my computer but lost it when we got a new computer years ago. Now I don't even use my Kodak camera much so I don't even know if that would work. I tried the program that came with my newer camera but didn't really like it. Maybe I will have to get used to that program or try a different one.
