Patio Table Makeover, on the Cheap

It is starting to be the time of year I like to spend outside (at least when the bloodsuckers from my previous post are not around). And the more time I spend outside the more I realize I want something BETTER out of my back yard.
It is not a BAD space, but it is not exactly inviting either.
Since I have very, very little money to spend sprucing it up, I usually just avoid going out.
That is a sad state of affairs!
So I thought I need to start doing SOMETHING to make me like my outdoor space more.
I thought I would start with this patio table. Taking it apart, cleaning the rust from it, and painting it. Then putting it back together again.
I also have 4 mis-matched plastic patio chairs that also need some TLC, but I thought I'd start with the table.
Any of you have an tips/hints/trick fore me, or any newbie mistakes I should avoid?

I would say you have a very good table there to start off with in the first place. I just got a new end table that was wooden for my front porch that went in between my rocking chairs. The end table needed some work as i picked it up from someone else's trash. It works and i painted it the same color as my front door so there is some matching going on at least.
The one thing i can say to do is go get a bottle of rust oleum spray paint color you like and at least sand down the areas on the table were the rust is before spray painting it. It probably will work best if you clean it too and give it a day before painting it. Hope this helps you out some. I know at work guys use rust oleum on alot of projects they do that are on the water or houses that are close to the water. I live in south florida so alot of houses are on the water, so i suggest rust oleum will hold up best for you. Usually the paint can be found at any home repair stores or in the home repair section in walmart or kmart.
Enjoy the project and hope it turns out well.

Yeah, this table has been with us for as long as we've been in our home. I spraypainted it once without doing any real prep. Want to do it RIGHT this time, and get a few more years out of it.

The mis-matched chairs can be fun to redo. Depending on what kind of chairs that you can reupholster them with different vibrant fabrics. If you want to make them a little more as a set you can use the same fabric even if they are different in design. The possibilities are endless.

Well, they are the cheap plastic chair so there wouldn't be any fabric. Just a coat of spray paint maybe.

@Bunny28 The chairs that came with the set originally had fabric cushions that came with them. Unfortunately the chairs were not as well made as the table, and they fell apart after the first couple of years.

@nonersays I don't know why I thought they would have fabric lol I think I was thinking about the wrong kind of chairs.

My indoors is a hot mess too, but I can ignore it by sticking my face in a laptop and pretending it doesn't exist.
