Here I am. Here I am, sitting in Costa, my next bus not for another twenty-five minutes. I have a small skinny latte and refused to succumb to the temptation of the sweet sugary cakes and biscuits which already grace the cabinets. "Eat me!" they say. "No!" I say back. The lights are on, but nobody is shopping. Cleaners clean the windows, shop assistants chat behind as yet unopened shop doors, workers scurry by, miserable folk grudgingly making their way to another mindless day at work, counting down the hours till the weekend can begin. There's a chill in the air. Scarves are in abundance and even I grabbed my warmer coat out of the cupboard under the stairs this morning. Mmmm, this latte is scrumptious, even if I did forget forget to ask for the hazelnut syrup. As Time marches on more and more people enter the shopping centre. Some don't look where they're going, eyes fixated on their mobile phones. Their lives would be empty without those morning texts from loved ones. Some are speedy, hurrying to get somewhere, maybe because of a late bus or heavy traffic. Others mooch along, gazing into shop windows, wishing they had the money to buy the beautiful products they spy. It is time to go. Here I am, leaving Costa.
