I recently had a doctor (my oncologist) want me to get an MRI of my head.. she said one of my eyes appeared weerd to her it seemed to come out a little further than the other one.. Okay.. It wont hurt.. fine. I did it. The results came back saying there was an abnormality.. but she explained that there are probably LOTS of people with this abnormality.. only most people don't get MRI's of their head.. so they don't know about it. Okay. So she said I will forward the MRI to you PCP (primary Care Physician) you can discuss it with him next time you see him (which is next month) ... fast forward a few hours.. My PCP's office calls me The doctor want you to come in.. Why? because of the MRI.. But, I was told it's no big deal.. Well, he wants you to come in.. So a few days later I go in.. I get there and the girl has me get on a scale, take my BP, and puts that little thing on my finger to measure heart rate and O2... that's it. Dr comes in asks about the MRI and says I want you to see a specialist.. A neurosurgeon (as he has practice at reading these MRI's and can let us know if this is really nothing or something to be worried about.... ) FINE. Dr. then checks my reflexes and out the door I go- they make an appt for the Neurosurgeon and then say your co-pay is $30... $30!!! for 5 minutes! For my weight , BP and heart rate.. I could've did that in the little booth at the Grocery store for FREE! WTH? They couldn't have told me over the phone the wanted me to go see a specialist without making me take time out of my day, gas money and $30 bucks out of my pocket for that! ERRRRGH - everyone always out to make a buck.. that is 3 hours of pay for me! Do you have any pet peeve stories... what sets you off?

Yes, that's pretty crappy to treat you like that - not to speak of scaring you by calling you in.

I know.. now I have to go to this Neurosurgeon this morning and give them $45 because they are a specialist.. and I am pretty sure.. at least I hope that it will be for nothing.. but at least I will have peace of mind.

@minx267 I have to say though that $45 to see someone like that is great value.

Which ever country we are from, most doctors are the same. They have already decided on sending you to the Neurosurgeon. All the other things are just eyewash. In my country doctors get commission if they send patients to MRI checks, specialists etc.No body worries about how the patients feel.

This is getting so ridiculous. They all seemed to be in cahoots with each other to make as much money as possible.

People may complain about, but with the NHS such visits to the doctor are all free unless we choose to go private

In the U.S. we don't have FREE. unless you are on welfare.. if you work.. than you have to pay.. I have never had free.. but I hate being billed for basically nothing!
