Choosing A Career

The time of my life where I don't have to worry about what I plan on doing "when I'm older" is coming to an end quicker than I realized! I know the classes I take in school now will lay the foundation for the classes I go to college for, but it's become so hard since my school offers so many electives! I've always wanted to be a writer, so I know that is something I will most likely do after I graduate. However, my eyes have recently been open to all the different types of writers and writing there really are. There's the freelance writer, which is many of you on here, but there's also writers like novelists, copy writers, and I even found out that there's writers needed to create the characters and plots for video games! These all seem so interesting and I'm afraid it's becoming a bit overwhelming trying to pick one to focus on... Are there any writers out there that can give some advice on what type of writing they found they liked the best, and maybe give a small job description of each? Any help would be appreciated!

I think what's most important is what YOU enjoy the most. I was on my high school and college newspapers (enjoyed both), have done some academc writing (nobody reads), did some creative writing (the muse, she is fickle), and did rviews for Epinions (fun and lucrative). Whatkinds of writing do YOU most enjoy?

Perhaps you could try to get some work experience in the different fields where writers are employed and see what you like

Well I am not a writer, but I give technical advises through posting some tech tips to help people with their tech needs and problems. You should choose to write something about what interest you, or something you have knowledge about. That way it will be easier for you to create content. What are your interests?

If I may suggest, you'll get to find the kind of writing for you once you've done many writing tasks/assignments. The common advice is to write what you know. It also helps to write anything you feel about then if it gets the response from your audience then maybe that's the kind of writing you should pursue. I think having a career other than writing might also help as it will give you the topics, substance to write about.
