Now I know Why I Kill Spiders……

Not long ago I was helping my niece do some research for a school project. She had to write a report about spiders. I know we have a lot of spiders here on the islands that are harmless. I sometime joke around with the kids about all the spider webs that appear in my house over night. I tease them and tell them they are my unwanted house guest that show up uninvited. It seems like daily I walk around with a coconut broom clearing away all the spider webs in my house.
During the research I found one shocking spider that I feel is more dangerous than the black widow. Not sure but man does this spider do some major damage if you are bitten by it.
The brown recluse spider can really do some damage if your bitten by it. From what I did read a lot of hospital and emergency rooms don’t really know what to look for until it’s too late.
We are lucky we don’t have any of these spiders living on the islands. But I’m sure where you live there are plenty of them. Here is some information that could save your life. Please read about this spider and look closely around your home.
Have you ever seen one of these spiders before? I never have and hope I never will.

@crazyhorseladycx Yah forgot about rattle snakes. We needed to pass through Texas and we stopped at a rattle snake round up. Wow was that amazing. Never saw so many snakes in one place.

That is so scary and I don't know anyone who has been bitten by one but I did read some stories of people who were. It seems like there isn't much they can do with this bite and people who were bitten were misdiagnosed and it turned out so badly for them. Be careful and look around. I would always shake out my shoes before I ever put them on it they were around here.

Here we don't have any either. But if you read about this one I think you'd be scared of them too. They are some nasty spiders and can do a lot of harm to a person. Even if treated early they can do a lot of tissue damage to the person.

We don't have them here on the island either. I'm so glad for this. I would hate to have them living here.

Yes, these spiders are dangerous. I've heard they live near me, though I don't think I've ever seen one.

My cousin was bitten by one, but it wasn't too bad. It ate away her skin a bit but she got it treated fast enough.

From the images I saw that is one nasty spider bite. I'm glad to hear she is OK and not too much damage. I couldn't imagine one of them around here.

As long as they all remain in the United States that I have no reason to dislike them. We have no poisonous spiders in England, although several have been discovered in banana crates etcetera so we cannot be certain that none have found their way into the wild.

Yes this is very true. Lucky we don't import bananas here on the islands. But who is to say they don't arrive in other crates. I know when stuff arrives here they have to be fumigated before it is released. Nothing just comes off a boat and is picked up first. It has to pass strict fumigation before a person can take it.

Yes I had a friend who was bitten with this spider and still has terrible scars from it.
There are some of these here where I live.
I am terrified of these dangerous spiders.

I'm glad none of them have made their way here to the islands by boat or a person's suitcase. I sure would hate to see them here. One time at the airport they found a boa in the trash. A person tried to bring this here to the islands and decided to throw it in the trash before he was caught. How scary they have a lot of strict animal control laws here on the islands and I'm glad they do.

Please be careful and look close to the ground. This spider is one to take seriously. I too kill spiders around here because I do get sick of looking at the webs and feeling trapped. But as you see from my cat in this photo here on the islands my home is basically very open to allow the breeze to flow through and to keep it cool during the warmer or should I say hotter and humid months of the year.

Yes for sure they are nasty creatures. The best part of all this mess is they don't live here on the islands. I am glad for this one. However, I'm still scared to encounter one if I ever visit the places they like to live.
