Forget gun control; what America needs is ARMADILLO control!

As someone who hates guns and would happily see most of them wiped off the face of the earth, I take a certain smug pleasure in collecting crazy stories about Americans shooting themselves, their relatives or their friends 'by accident'. Today a friend posted on facebook that a chap in Texas got a bullet in the face after he tried to shoot an armadillo and the bullet pinged back at him off the beast's hard shell. I call that karma but others might call it an 'unfortunate accident'. Why did this interest me so? Well a couple of months back I read an account of a man who accidentally shot his mother-in-law when a bullet ricocheted off another armadillo. I'm sure it's no fun for armadillos having people shoot at them. The recipients of the diverted bullets possibly deserve some sympathy but there is something so intrinsically funny about armadillos (and idiots trying to shoot them) that I can't help but laugh at these stories. I can't understand what possible threat these little bug and creepy-crawly eating beasties could pose to their would-be killers. So next time anyone starts a thread about gun control, maybe what American REALLY needs is armadillo control. Or maybe armadillos should be armed.
