Mediocrity

Our generation today is satisfied on MEDIOCRITY!
Students that learn at schools are satisfied with what they have learned at school and do not do something else that would broaden their knowledge. Workers are satisfied so long as they finished their job and it's time to go home and that's it. People are satisfied living their lives without attaining their dreams so long as they have what they need. College students are happy so long as their thesis or projects are done and is satisfyingly good but not excellent. We are surrounded with mediocrity.
There are only few people left who value excellence. And they are the people that change the world. We ought to stop our mediocre mind set, and change them so that we will be dedicated to doing everything with excellence. Excellence in things we do, will bring out the best of us and for others. I think that if all of us will do everything with excellence, we would have a better community in one world with few discrepancies and chaos that stems from mediocrity.
So let us be excellent in our work, our jobs, our studies, our relationships, and everything else. I regret being mediocre before, and it takes time to practice excellence. But in the end, it will be worthwhile.
How about you? Do you think you have been mediocre? If so, what do you think you should do? :) Kudos~

There may be areas in which I am average and mediocre and others in which I do better - I couldn't claim to excel at everything I try

@GopherDanny we should always push towards excellence even if we don't get there - not trying is the most mediocre thing we can do

True, we cannot excel in many things but it's always worth a try. We'll laugh and be satisfied when we do our best even though we know we cannot excel on that particular something. But in things we know such as our works, excellence could be attained if we really want to. Kudos~ :)

Thanks for reading it. I just read a book about mediocrity and it struck me hard to change my mediocre mind set. Ha ha

Yeah, sadly, mediocrity is part of humanity, and whether I like it or not, it will always be innate in all of us. But i just wish to address that we should always do things with excellence. It takes discipline to do so because of our mediocrity but with practice, it is actually attainable although it will still be left in us. Thank you for your honest opinion. :)

Nice topic. I think many people cannot afford to be excellent, as money does factor a large part. Still excelling in our primary field of work or talent should be the broad goal, because the higher we can reach the higher we can open the minds of everyone else around us. But everyone cannot do that, so we should cut them some slack. That is the reality. If everyone were excellent, then true----everyone would have been living equally without any discrepancy.

I agree with you, I was only thinking about excellence in our work and talent which i forgot to address. But anyway, it's true that we cannot be excellent in other things even if we want to since we have different talents and such, that is where the factor of 'others' come into place. With others, we can do so much more, since we can complement each other on the things we are excellent at. Thanks for your thoughts. :) Kudos~

I hate that so many people lack in motivation. For me, I am always learning, everything in life is a learning experience.

@GopherDanny I am 56 and back in school. Decided to finally go for my Bachelors degree, in Alternative Medicine. And am considering going to med school for Naturopathic medicine. My family thinks I have lost it, but I am really passionate about this.

@Pattitude Ma'am, I admire your determination and attitude. It is never too late to follow our passion. Some successful people are people that realized their passion in a later year than most, yet they kept on going and they became successful. I wish you best of luck in your future endeavors. Kudos~

I agree with you. In life, if we quit learning, we quit living. Since learning is basically living. That's why as time goes by, we ought to broaden our knowledge and keep on learning then apply what we've learned - not with mediocrity, but with excellence. Thanks for your response.

Even the mediocre has a right to be happy and so not aiming higher should not be considered as lacklustre. Some are capable and some are not and so bending backwards therefore is not called for. I have achieved a few heights just because I could reach there without bending backwards.
