Can a 5 year old make life and death decisions?

Can a child understand death? I was nearly 10 when my grandmother died, and I know I did not understand death before that, but that was my first experience with death; but a 5 year old? She has an incurable illness, a neurodegenerative disease and you can bet that she is suffering. If it were me, I would not want anyone preventing me from making that choice. What do you lotters think? Can a child understand the choice between the hospital and heaven? This little girl realizes that she will go before and without her mommy and daddy.
Julianna Snow is dying of a terminal disease and she wants to die at home instead of going to the hospital for treatment. She is 5 years old.

She knows where she'll find her cure and that's not here. She is sensible. I couldn't have done that. Amen.

by just scanning at her photos could break my heart, i didn't finish the story coz i really felt bad seeing kids like this. they are too young to die.. i don't know if she really understand her situation and that she really knows what's going to happen next but all i can say that girl is a really strong adorable 5 year old. and smart, too.
