Could you handle it if you won the Lottery?

If you think gambling is morally reprehensible, this may not be the topic for you. Think about it though since even churches have Bingo and Vegas nights. As to the Lottery, I think it creates jobs and most of the proceeds in our state (California) go to education. Can't beat that for a lofty purpose. Probably most think it will never happen. But it does happen every day. If you study the odds it may seem staggering, but I balance it off by going with a "smaller game". I like Fantasy Five where you pick 5 numbers from a field of numbers. No Mega ball or anything else to skew the odds higher. Just pick the right five numbers. I have talked to some of my "chancey" friends that say it is not worth it since the prize pool starts at ONLY $50,0000. "Only" I exclaim, "$50,000 for most people would be life changing". The jackpots grow day to day and have reached over $400,000 for those that think Fantasy Five starts at a paltry sum of $50,0000. The real issue is we all have read about the greed of friends and the paranoia of the winners. You also read about those that dispose of the winning without thought or planning. I guess none of us will know unless it happens to us, but do you think you could handle winning a big sum of money?

I hope so I have read tons of stories about people winning the lottery and still becoming dirt poor a few years later I don't think i will be one of those because i would definitely store some money for savings

Maybe we hear more of the rags to riches to rags stories. Hopefully many have taken a smart path such as you have suggested...and we just don't hear about them.

Sounds like you would put your winnings to practical use. That is not what most big winners do according to the news stories.

Having worked in casinos for more than a decade, I think I can handle very well if ever I won $100 million in lotto. But to be honest with you, I could not handle or hold my temper every time I hit just a preplay!

Ha...that is true. Must be interesting to work in a casino, rather than log time there..like some of us!
