If there are any moms out there... I need some advice about diaper rash. My poor baby has diaper rash for the first time...or at least I think it is. He's a little red! I happened to have a sample packet of desitin. Does anyone else have any other recommendations? Aren't there spray on type of diaper rash medicine? :)

My son is 2 years old and it seems like he has had a diaper rash atleast once a month, lol. Balmex is what I have used and it works in minutes, I love it and he feals better right away! If your alittle short on cash, Ive also used corn starch and vaseline which you can get at any grocery store for less than a dollar! Good luck

try johnson's rash cream. keep your baby without diaper for sometime.becz rashes are caused due to lack of air circulation

Best thing for that baby is to be bare butt with no creams so he can dry out a little bit. I've even taken the hair dryer on the lowest setting and dried the bums of my 3 kids. It's really the best thing. If they are red from diarrhia, let them stay bare butt on a waterproof mat and layers of newspapers and/or paper towels with a potty nearby and/or diapers to soak up the urine, just in case. Keep a watchful eye during the nakedness so should he start to pee you can keep it from getting everywhere, LOL, but the best thing is AIR.

use desiten it works...i used in on my son. and put baby powder on after the desiten as well. the best types are the ointments, i don't think a spray on would be that safe since it spreads around and possiblly could get in the baby's mouth or eyes.

I have always heard that it is not good to use baby powder. The dust from the powder can get in the baby's eyes or the baby could inhale it and get pneumonia or other respiratory infection. The same way you mentioned can happen with a spray.

.. I rely on petroleum jelly for that matter. I even use it as a protection for my baby as well even without rashes.

if your baby had his poo poo clean him right away,do not let it stick to his skin, itcan cause skin rashes, i know my baby is now four months old, and he never had any rashes, because iw as him right away, and let it dry before putting another diaper.it works for me...i hope it helps..

I work in a nursing home with big butts that get red. We use cream with every diaper change to prevent redness or irritation from wetness or poop. There are so many different creams and ointments out there. Desitin (I prefer the Creamy) A&D ointment, Balmex, or even plain old vaseline. Anything to protect the skin from redness or irritation. If your baby gets red and spotty despite protective cream or ointment, then you need to use an antifungal until it clears up and then go back to the regular cream or ointment.

I would recommend Balmex. That stuff works great. I used it with my neice but I also know it's used in hospitals and nursing homes. My sister used to work the nursing homes and they swore by it. It works great and it wipes off easily unlike Desitin.

Hi there! I'm not sure if there is a spray on type of diaper rash cream, but certainly there are powder scented ones. Here's what I do whenever my son have diaper rash.. 1. I change my baby's diaper every 4-6 hours 2. I use wet towel in wiping his entire diaper area 3. Apply Cetaphil cleanser (use as liquid soap) 4. Then wipe again with wet towel 5. Put on Desitin or Drapolene cream.

I've never heard of spray on. I will use the Aveeno diaper rash cream. It seems to work better for some reason. If it's real bad I get an rx from the pediatrician for nystatin. Usually my kids diaper rashes turn into yeast infections and the nystatin clears it up right away.

I used a johnson product cream (sorry forgot the name) to help when my son got nappy rash. Worked quickly. I also aired out baby's bottom several times a day. When I change his nappy i always wipe him down with a wet cloth or baby wet wipes. Sometimes it pays to change the type of diaper you use too from huggies to pampers and then back again. I changed it a couple of times and it helped! Good Luck.

Hi! I use Drapolene for my baby's diaper rash and it worked well on my baby. I suggest that you often check you your baby's diaper from time to time and don't wait for the pee to spill up before changing it. I also suggest to put diaper rash creams when changing nappies even if your baby doesnt have rashes.

I like desitin creamy and A&D ointment, in that order. Sprays and powders are not good because the baby could inhale it and cause pneumonia or an allergic reaction. I agree with airing out, but that can be difficult due to the baby peeing all over the place. I suppose you could air him out in the bathtub!

To get rid of diaper rash, gently wash the bottom with plain water and then blow dry the bottom with a hair dryer set on LOW every single time the diaper is changed. This usually clears it in a day or two - even the really bad rash that bleeds. This ALWAYS worked for my 10 cousin kids Just make SURE that you don't get too close with the hair dryer! Keep it on LOW and constantly moving and just long enough to dry the skin, which should only take about 30 seconds.or u can put a tablespoon of white vinegar into about 2 cups of warm water. Dip a rag into the water, squeeze it out, and dab it onto the diaper area do this after each diaper change. The only warning is if the diaper rash is bleeding or there is sores DO NOT use it will burn the child.

Hello! I use A&D ointment. I hate desitin. Seems like it's so hard to get off and it's horrible to rub so much on a sore butt! A&D comes off real easy and it works great! Make sure that after you change baby, that you either pat the butt dry or let it air dry. Using babywipes then putting the diaper right back on can cause irritation from the soap on the babywipe! Just letting baby lay naked helps alot too. Good Luck! Happy Holidays!

Of course Desitin or Balmex work great, but another one that works is called Bag Balm & it's not in the baby isle--it's with the lotions etc. OR just ask a person to help you find it. I know alot of people swear by this & I've used it and it has helped!!
