I guess it's a sign of getting older: you see a commercial and go, "What the heck did I just watch???"
When I was little I had dang near every commercial memorized, and it was impossibly easy (even for a 7-year-old) to know what the commercial was selling.
Today? Not so much.
One of the commercials that just annoys me is the Chobani Yogurt commercial. It's airing a lot during the World Series (probably because the commercial is set in a dugout).
And I watch it and think, "what the heck did I just watch????"
It features a baseball player in the dugout, eating yogurt while some guy with a guitar is singing (also in the dugout -- yeah, that happens all the time
). The guy starts eating his yogurt while you hear the umpire calling strikes. A teammate taps the guy on the shoulder and he hands over his yogurt while he picks up a bat.
What does the song have to do with this? What does the scene have to do with this (other than, I'm assuming, implying you can enjoy this yogurt anywhere)? And why isn't this guy in the on-deck circle as baseball rules dictate?
I don't know if I'm missing something in the message or if it's just so disjointed (I usually don't associate yogurt with baseball) that I "don't get it." Whatever it is, I do not like that commercial.

Commercials are now trying to sell you a lifestyle as well as a product. They want to be artsy, edgy and interesting. I have seen a lot of commercials that I know the music or the song to, but couldn't tell you what product they were selling.
