Worries Put to Rest

I've had a tough couple of weeks. The results of a recent x-ray said that there was a calcified granuloma in my lung and spleen.
Needless to say, I haven't been sleeping well since hearing that. And, as Abraham Lincoln said, you can't trust everything on the internet
; therefore, conflicting details didn't help a whole lot.
Thankfully, today I had to go to my doctor for an unrelated issue. While there I asked her exactly what a calcified granuloma is. She explained it in detail, assuring me that it's benign and nothing to worry about.
I wish these diagnoses came with English subtitles! Or at least, when they mention that they'd explain it to you.

They really should have explained it to you. It is benign that is good. Is it causing any shortness of breath?

I'm an asthmatic, so I can't really tell if it's exacerbating things or not. Thanks so much for your concern.

@FourWalls Your welcome! I used to be a respiratory therapist. On my way to becoming a naturopathic physician, if I don't change my mind again!

The way my doctor explained it to me, a granuloma is similar to scar tissue left over from an infection (usually histoplasmosis, which is extremely common where I live). And don't worry, now that I know what it is I can have a good laugh, too!!
It's the not knowing that kills you.

Doctors use fancy terms so we'll think they know more than we do so we can pay them big bucks. Psychologists do the same thing. I know a lot of fancy terms for stuff you probably know better than I do. But I know the fancy term for it. Hah! Glad it's benign, by the way.

You got me a that ironic Abe Lincoln quote. Lol
Sometimes, people like to exaggerate things a bit. They turn minor things to major things and our brain worries so we become stressed and such. But in times like that, let's just think objectively and research more on the subject so as not to be pressured by unnecessary pressure. He he.
Get well soon! Kudos~
