I imagine it must be a huge pride when you see your child winning a medal at an international competition. if my child would want to and I would consider he has talent for whatever sport he might be doing than I would support him to do it professionally. I think it's important for kids to exercise because it helps them to become healthy adults. But we as adults don't have to lose out of sight the fact that parent have a great influence on their kids and trying to lead them to a path and make them do something that doesn't bring them happiness is totally wrong. Parents many times try to fulfill their own dreams( if the mother wanted to become a gymnast she encourages her child to follow that path).let kids discover whatever they are good at
