Building a Better Pumpkin

Last night I saw the coolest thing! One of our neighbors, instead of buying and carving real pumpkins, saved several of his plastic gallon milk jugs, and then decorated them to look like pumpkins. He set them out in front of his house, and along his driveway, and cut a hole in the bottom to inset a candle to light each one. And his "pumpkin" artwork on each milk jug was fantastic! This guy was quite the artist, in that his milk jugs actually resembled carved pumpkins (except for the fact they weren't orange). His rationale was that he was saving money on buying pumpkins, not wasting real pumpkins (which often get thrown away after Halloween), and re-using and recycling his milk jugs! I thought it was pretty ingenious! Have any of you seen this before, or creative ways to use recyclable materials?

@moffittjc That sounds awesome! I've never seen anything like that before. I love seeing stuff like that though. Like doing things out of the ordinary and being creative.

I read a story not too long ago about a guy that saved and collected tens of thousands of plastic bottles and milk jugs, and somehow tied or bound them all together and created his own manmade island! He then brought in dirt and planted trees and grass and even built a small house on his floating island. His island eventually got so big that he had to find a way to anchor it to ocean floor so it wouldn't float away.

@VivaLaDani13 now that would be fun! We could declare ourselves royalty over our own island!

@sharon6345 mentioned that they also make good ghosts as well! So now you have two great Halloween uses for old milk jugs!
